Hello & Welcome

Hello and welcome to Relief From Arthritis.

My name is Richard and I am pleased to share with you information that will help you to manage, reduce and even say good bye to your aches and pains. If you suffer from Arthritis, Gout, joint pain or back pain, my research into this subject has transformed my life and hopefully will do the same for you.

You see, I have suffered for many months after being in an accident. For a long time the idea of a full nights sleep, pain free, was just a dream, never mind the idea of ever getting back to my career in the Fire Service. But I never gave up, I searched and searched to find the right information that enabled me to live a pain free life. Now I am proud to say I have returned to active duty in the Fire Service and all the information that I have learned I want to pass on to you.

First lets ask the Question for those that haven’t already…

What Is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a common affliction of the aging process. Many people will be faced with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or juvenile arthritis at some point in their life. The most common type of arthritis, osteoarthritis (OA), involves the degeneration of the cartilage, causing bones to rub against each other and cause pain (often referred to as ‘wear and tear’) whereas rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis (often referred to as ‘fire in the joints’). Scientists are reporting a rise in osteoarthritis, linked to a number of causes such as obesity, improper diet or lack of exercise. Treating arthritis often includes the use of anti-inflammatory drugs that can lead to harmful side effects. There are a number of things you can do to prevent osteoarthritis or delay the onset of symptoms.

  1.     Drink plenty of water.
  2.     Increase your calcium intake.
  3.     Increase your vitamin intake.
  4.     Maintain a healthy weight.
  5.     Exercise regularly with both cardiovascular and light weightlifting exercises.
  6.     Practice yoga or simple stretching.
  7.     Treat injuries adequately.
  8.     Reduce repetitive motions in your daily life.
  9.     Quit smoking, as it weakens bone health and structure.
  10.     Avoid excess alcohol consumption.

I will go into more detail on these methods in later articles especially diet & exercise. I will also be discussing natural remedies versus  pharmaceutical  remedies and which products on the market I believe are the most beneficial. This may also be of benefit to people suffering from similar problems such as gout, lower back pain and other forms of joint pain.
